Day 16 - Croatia

We were all so thankful for a nice long untimed shower last night! This campsite resort is so nice! There are people cleaning the bathrooms all day. There are childrens shower areas and the boys had their own stalls. The bathroom facilities feel very fancy compared to other places we’ve stayed that have been well kept but not this nice or this clean. The whole campsite is pristine and was quiet last night. We woke up to beautiful views of the ocean and took our time enjoying our coffee and catching up on the blog…although you wouldn’t know it because I am behind in posting yet again.

After our slow start, we ventured out to one of the shops where the campsite resort sells water shoes. That’s something we should’ve packed, the beach is pebbly here like it is in much of Croatia, so we definitely needed them. We also headed to the check in office to ask about laundry tokens and get Croatian Kuna (cash) since a lot of places don’t take cards. Before walking there we noticed a camper leaving a spot that had a direct beach view, so I also asked the check in desk if we could move spots and luckily they said yes! Our other spot was fine with an indirect view of the water, but this one was “superplatz” in the words of one of our fellow campers! After getting our cash, water shoes, and a few groceries, we headed back to change spots and get ready for the water!

We laid in the sun for a little while, each with a great book, and then we headed down the beach to find a quiet spot and ended up on a pier that took us away from the waves crashing onto the rocky shore. The boys had snorkels so they ventured out to see what was hidden under the water. They don’t have much experience with the ocean or with snorkeling so we were surprised to see them take right to it! They ventured out on their own and then David and I took a turn with the snorkels. The water was so clear and the fish were so unique. It made me want to have my own snorkel if we do it again! Elijah wants to try scuba diving… who knows, our mountain boys might turn into beach bums one day! I left my phone behind at the campsite So I unfortunately don’t have any pictures of our time at the beach. But David has some on the GoPro so we’ll share those another time.

After that we went back to the van for our normal charcuterie lunch and then lazily spent time reading and lounging. I also had time to sneak in a load of laundry. Ugh laundry. It's not the most glamorous thing to think about doing on vacation, but it’s a necessary evil that can’t be avoided.

After our relaxing afternoon we ventured down the beach in the other direction and ended up at the pool. The infinity pools and chair areas are beautiful and felt refreshing on this hot day. After that we showered, made dinner, and relaxed some more. Not too many pictures to share from today, but a perfect day nonetheless. My pool friends will know that Summer Laura has arrived when she can lounge by the pool!
